ok, here will introduce the biggest selling point for this Tronsmart Prometheus tv box, as we all know, now in market, we get lots of dual core tv box, most of them are base on rockchip rk3066 chip, which can not support hardware decording, however, this Tronsmart Prometheus Can SUPPORT HARDWARE DECORDING, because it use the Amlogic-M6 dual core chip, and XBMC team already get the sample device for Tronsmart Prometheus, and working on the XBMC new version for this tv box, later, you will directly watch 1080P video from XBMC in this Tronsmart Prometheus.

We just get the stock firmware for Tronsmart Prometheus Amlogic m6 dual core tv box, here is the firmware download link:

here is the firmware update instruction:

1 Download firmware from the above link;

2 Decompress the file, and you will get 4 files

3 Put these 4 files(don’t open zip file) in root of your SD card, Use a paperclip inserts to press the reset key which is at back side of the Android TV Box and hold it.

4 Power on the Android TV Box (connect the AD adapter with device), wait for blue Led flash 3 times then release reset key.

5 System will automatically upgrade.( Make sure power is not interrupted during the upgrading process.

6 After 3-5 mins, device will be reboot after upgrading .(Check the software version in setting-> about media player. You will see it).

We have tested with this method, and everything is right, here is the screenshot after we upgrade successful:

Please Notice: Make sure your USB Camera is connected with your Prometheus,  and during the update, please do not disconnect your webcam.

1 Download firmware from the above link;

and Tronsmart tell me, they are working hard with XBMC Developer in US, and the XBMC which support amlogic-mx version will come soon.

We just get the lastest firmware from Tronsmart, they add the bluetooth to their device, i test with my usb bluetooth dongle, just plug it, it can work!

Upgrade Instruction:

Please notice, Tronsmart tell us the upgrade method is a little different from before.

We should flash 2 times with the firmware, and then get the tv box working.

Here is what we are doing:

1. Open the download folder;
2. you will get below 7 files.
3. Put these 7 files (don’t open zip file) in root of your SD card, then follow below upgrading method,
(1) Use a paperclip inserts to press the reset key which is at back side of the Android TV Box and hold it;
(2) Power on the Android TV Box (connect the AD adapter with device), wait for blue Led flash 3 times then release reset key;
(3) System will automatically upgrade. (Make sure power is not interrupted during the upgrading process);
(4) Device will be reboot after upgrading. (Check the software version in setting-> about media player. You will see it).

After you did this, you will find there is no any upgrade image on your TV, please don’t worry, after 5 mins, you can do the second flash, do as the same process, and this time, you will find the upgrade image on your TV, and after that, you will get the new firmware.

Please make sure to install the XBMC apk in the download file, DO NOT USE OTHER XBMC version. it is specifical for Prometheus.

Here is the changelog for new firmware:

1 New Android 4.2 Jelly Bean Firmware;

2 Come with rooted;

3 Add DLNA function;

You can’t use other XBMC version, because this one is custom made for Promethues, and will support real 1080p hardware decoding!

If your Tronsmart promethus has already been in the Android 4.2 beta firmware, then you should just do as following:

1. Open the download folder;
2. you will get below 5 files.
3. Put these 5 files (don’t open zip file) in root of your SD card, then follow below upgrading method,
(1) Use a paperclip inserts to press the reset key which is at back side of the Android TV Box and hold it;
(2) Power on the Android TV Box (connect the AD adapter with device), wait for blue Led flash 3 times then release reset key;
(3) System will automatically upgrade. (Make sure power is not interrupted during the upgrading process); screen will still show no siginal when you are doing upgrade, but don’t worry, it is normal!
(4) Device will be reboot after upgrading. (Check the software version in setting-> about media player. You will see it).

if you are still in the Android 4.1 firmware, and want to upgrade to this android 4.2 firmware, you should do as following:

1. Open the download folder;
2. you will get below 5 files.
3. Put these 5 files (don’t open zip file) in root of your SD card, then follow below upgrading method,
(1) Use a paperclip inserts to press the reset key which is at back side of the Android TV Box and hold it;
(2) Power on the Android TV Box (connect the AD adapter with device), wait for blue Led flash 3 times then release reset key;
(3) System will automatically upgrade. (Make sure power is not interrupted during the upgrading process); TV screen will still show no siginal when you are doing upgrade, but don’t worry, it is normal!
(4) After you wait for  5 mins , the system will reboot, and you will find you still in Android 4.1 OS, don’t worry, now what you should do is power off the promethues, and then do the above upgrade step again, and then you will find your promethues has been get the Android 4.2 update!

Finally,finally,finally, we get the custom rom support for Tronsmart Promethus, this custom rom is based on the newest android 4.2 rom i release some days ago. and here is the changelog for it:

1) Rooted with an updated SU and Superuser.apk that works with 4.2.2

2) I have added the Google Play Store without all the junk Google apps!

3) I updated the play store and any APPs that needed it except Search.
For some reason I cannot update that in the ROM.
Bottom line as of May 25, nothing should need to be updated except Google Search.

4) Debloated of a huge amount of crap apps!
The Google play patch added so much stuff it just had to be removed!
Also I remove all the other BS bloat in this stock ROM.

5) I have removed the stupid first boot “welcome and setup” script.
There is no reason for it and it just burns up APP space which is limited on this device anyway!
If you need this thing to setup wifi, etc…
Well maybe you should not be flashing a custom ROM.
Kidding….
It’s NUKED as it should be!

6) As always, I added full init.d support!
If you do not know what that is… ignore it.
For geeks that want to use it. It is there!

7) Gameloft fix. This fixes Gameloft games from crashing to the desktop.
Many of them do not run and crash to the desktop. This is due to a license check based on the
device. That is now fixed.
I use the game Asphault 7 or wonder zoo to test this patch. They now work.
Special thanks to Christian Troy for inventing this fix. I modded it for this ROM.

Phone carrier fix for Google Market unlock (more APPs show up).
For some reason this was not built in like other stock ROMs.

9) Build.prop edit to open up the Google Play store to APPs that normally say “not compatible”.
I am spoofing a Samsung device that will show almost any APP as compatible.
Your device will now NOT show up as a Prometheus device to Google Play!
Understand this please.
I also left the original build.prop in the ROM called build.orig.
If you want to go back, just use ES FIle Explorer or a root file explorer and rename build.prop
to build.old
Then rename build.orig to build.prop.
Go into settings, apps, all and go into the Google Play app. Clear the cache and data.
Reboot!

10) I Fixed the ugly default wallpaper.
I hope you like my basic carbon fiber look better?
To me it looks better on a TV screen.

11) I fixed launcher dock. Missing icons and spaces. That is now reorganized to be CLEAN.

I added some bonus APPs:

12) I added fullscreen APP. Tired of that bottom status bar in your way?
Well this APP will help you get rid of it WHEN you want!
Note: On first boot you’re going to get asked for root OK for this APP.
Just agree.
If you don’t want this APP. You are rooted so just remove it from /system/app/

13) Ummmm crap…. I did some other stuff but after 4 days of tweaking,
sorry, I do not remember it all now 

Finally…. SPEED is what I am about. I think you folks will like this ROM for that reason!
I think this is the most tuned ROM I can make at this time.
Again it’s been a year since I did a AMLogic ROM and tweaked like I have.
I did in fact spend 3 days working on this.
2 days were relearning 4.2.2 and AML ROMs all over again.

after you install this XBMC on your tronsmart prometheus, you will get a real great media box. I have tested so many android tv box, from allwinner chip to rockchip chip ,and amlogic chip,i have to see, the amlogic has the best video player functions, and if you want me to recommend a real good xbmc media box, tronsmart promethues is still the best choice till now.

Last week, we release the new stock firmware for Tronsmart Promethues, BOB Finless on freaktab just do a very quick job, and release this new custom rom. Thanks!!!

Here is the changelog for this custom rom:

1) Rooted with an updated SU and Superuser.apk that works with 4.2.2
